Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.)

The following description of B.E.S.T. is primarily from Dr. Morter's website.

Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique is a physical yet non-forceful, energy-balancing procedure used by the hands to reestablish the full healing potential of the body. B.E.S.T. addresses and neutralizes the interference and/or distractions that are demanding the attention of the healing power and causing the imbalances in the autonomic nervous system that ultimately lead to disease. It was developed by a chiropractor, Dr. M.T. Morter Jr.

The Basic Treatment

This procedure is based on scientific principles utilizing pressure points to effectively allow the patient's body to update physiological function based on current need rather than past experience. By first stabilizing the parasympathetic nervous system and then balancing it with the sympathetic system, relaxation and balance can occur as your muscle memory pattern is updated.

When muscles are effectively balanced, including the intrinsic muscles of the spine, vertebral subluxations are repositioned naturally and with virtually no force. This method of reducing subluxation is both painless and effective, since the body's own muscles do the work. For chiropractic students and those interested in the scientific rationale for this work, please read Chiropractic Physiology by M.T. Morter Jr.

During an adjustment, the patient lies face-down on the table. The muscles of the neck, back, buttocks and legs are palpated for points of high sensitivity. These pressure points are then lightly held, while the patient is asked to hold her breath and, at times, think of an emotion. This procedure addresses and updates a pattern of physiology that is stuck. Stuck physiology results in symptoms such as: chronically tight muscles, stiff neck and back, recurring pains, repeating attitudes and behaviors.

The Advanced Treatment

This procedure is designed to directly remove high brain interference from expression in the physical body. Developed to identify and then remove interference caused by stored emotional patterns, the procedure allows the patient to consciously focus on certain feelings that have been stored in the brain as memory engrams and subsequently allow the sub-conscious portions of the brain to update for current need rather than past experience.

Hands on Treatment

Once the specific emotion, recurring thought, circumstance, or other stressor has been identified, the practitioner instructs the patient's conscious thought process, eye position, and breathing pattern to re-time the body toward a more appropriate current need. Once the patient's body functioning is based on current, updated need, rather than past experience, true healing can and will occur.

During an advanced adjustment, the patient lies face-up on the table. The strength of the arms are checked, and the functional length and spasticity of the legs are checked. The patient will typically be asked to consciously think of an emotion, thought, or other stressor, while also altering their breath and looking in a particular direction. Treatment points will be lightly touched on the head at the same time.
